NAPPA SUMMER YOUNG RIDER CAMP/CLINIC- Sunday, August 2nd- Thursday, August 6th, 2009 Application deadline is July 10th for this years camp/clinic. This experience is for young riders 15-18 years old who wish to pursue a career in the steeplechasing industry. This camp is open to only six NAPPA members at the cost of $375 each. Qualifications: 15-18 years old, racing/galloping experience, applicants must provide a written essay on why they want to attend this camp and TWO letters of reccomendation from horse professionals. Students will be working/riding for trainers in VA, MD, and PA and the trip finale will be a visit to Saratoga Race Course on a steeplechase racing day. The Marlborough Pony Club won this years Smithwick Award, which is given to the group of young riders who accumulated the most points in the Maryland Governor's Cup Series of junior and young rider races. A $500 cash prize will be presented to the group (foxhunt, beagle pack, or pony club) whose members accumulate the most points in races this spring. All rider's wishing to earn points for their "group" must submit and eligibility form... which will be available for download shortly on this site. The form will verify that you are indeed a current member of your group. Stay tuned for more details and complete set of rules.
